IWDoc I Weld, I Document.
Every weld. Every document. One click.
Collect the weld documentation in one clickable PDF. Everything stays on your computer.
0New project? Start with an empty project folder
A ready-made folder with the welding record and one folder per document type (weld plan, drawings, WPS, WPQR, welder qualifications, certificates, NDT reports …). Unzip it, put the PDFs in the right folders, fill in the welding record – then drop the whole folder below.
1Add the files
Weld plans are found automatically when you add them. The page makes the welding record for you – one tab per weld plan, plus a Handover tab per drawing that automatically lists every weld where a Welder is filled in. You enter how many welds there are of each weld type; drawing number, process, WPS and VT, UT/RT and MT/PT extent are filled in. WPS pages in the same PDF are found automatically.

Add the welding record first.
How the files should look
- The welding record is an Excel file with one row per weld. Start from the empty template.
Each weld is given by
Weld,SeriesandIndex(e.g. 101 / 1 / 3 = weld 101:1:3). - Write the drawing number at the top of the welding record (the
Drawing no:cell in the template). All welds in the list are then linked to that drawing. - Columns linked to documents:
WPS,Welder(two columns),Material(one for each part),Filler Material,WPQR,VT Report,UT/RT Report,MT/PT Report,PWHT Report. Other columns (Welding date, Process, Diameter, Thickness, VT, UT/RT, MT/PT, Preheat, PWHT) are shown as details. - In the document columns, write the document's ID = the file name without .pdf.
WPS-001findsWPS-001.pdfand alsoWPS-001 rev B.pdf. - Separate several documents in one cell with a comma:
MTR-5521, MTR-5522. So do not use/or,inside an ID. - Give every document a unique ID –
SV-1andSV-10are fine, but avoid one ID being the start of another followed by a hyphen (WPS-1andWPS-1-A). - If several documents are in one PDF (e.g. the WPSs after the weld plan), they are found by the number in the page heading – the PDF does not need to be split.
- Drawings saved as PDF from CAD get clickable weld numbers. Scanned drawings work, but without clickable numbers.
